Natural Factors B3 Niacin Acid 100 mg

Vitamin B3 comes in two different forms; niacin and niacinamide. Both of these possess the same vitamin activity, but sometimes, niacinamide is preferred due to a reaction to niacin that many people experience. The reaction is called a "niacin flush" and causes the skin to temporarily become red, or feel warm and tingly. Niacinide also contains more triglyceride and cholesterol lowering properties. However, unlike niacin, niacinamide is not recommended for problems of the circulatory system.

Niacin is essential for metabolism of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. It has a significant effect on blood cholesterol levels when taken in large amounts, and it is believed to be able to prevent cholesterol in the liver from secreting into the circulatory system. Niacin also increases your body's level of lipoproteins, known as the "good cholesterol" and is a powerful preventative for cardiovascular disease, hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis.

Benefits:

B3 at 100mg

I believe without proof that adults can benefit from about 300 mg of B3 daily. Split each pill into two 50 mg parts if you are bothered by flushing. 50 mg causes only minor flushing, if any.

Will produce flush

This is the form of niacin that will produce a "niacin flush" I wanted that effect, however, after a month the effects got stronger, and became too much.

Great for reducing cholesterol

I used Niacin to reduce my cholesterol. It not only reduced my LDL and triglyceride, but also raised my HDL. A statin drug does not raise good cholesterol. HOWEVER, you must start nican with a small dosage. I started with 50mg 3X daily and worked up to 1g 3X daily. The reason is because niacin causes a flush. It took me 1 1/2 weeks to get to up 1g 3X daily. Also I noticed that my white blood cell count dropped and my platelet count dropped below the standard set by the Canadian Medical establishment. I still take niacin but I'm only taking 1g a day at the end of the day. I just wish Natural Factors made a tablet that was 500mg. I have switched to Jamison Niacin because they put out a tablet that is 500mg. I would hope that Vitasave would carry this brand.

Allergic reaction alert!

Be careful… this is nicotinic acid not nicotinamide and I had a severe reaction to it.
