In conjunction with digestive enzymes and DGL it helps manage my GERD
After a year of modifying my eating and trying out various supplements I have found that I can manage my GERD (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease) by taking a DGL before I eat and digestive enzymes and Betaine HCL at first bite (literally). This has allowed me to get off of proton pump inhibitors like Nexium which have very very bad long term side effects, osteoporosis, cancer, mineral deficiency etc. Bare in mind that GERD can be a product of to little acid for digestion or too much. If you have too little you body will over supply so the Betaine works by supplying the extra acid that allows you body to stop overcompensating. So for some people with GERD this will work and for others not. You have to try it. Along with Foodstyle modifications. I cut out a lot of Dairy, starches, and grains. My diet when it isn't the Christmas fat, sugar, and excess of everything season, is basically nut milks, nut butters, alternative grain crackers (in moderation) some jam and sugar, but the bulk is simply vegetables and some type of lean protein. If I have eggs they are hard boiled. The vegetables are often raw - salad form - with some fat and protein. No fat with a salad can aggravate GERD. So try olive oil, some hard boiled egg, some nuts, or some protein with your salad, as most protein has some kind of fat to it that will help. I hope this helps, I have been tortured by GERD for years now and it's a relief not to be taking the dangerous pharmaco-therapeutic route anymore. Good luck and no matter what, don't give up!
