NOW Borage Oil 1000 mg

Borage Oil is a nutritional oil rich in polyunsaturated fats. Linoleic Acid and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) are enhanced essential fatty acids. Although the body can manufacture GLA from dietary linoleic acid, it can be more efficiently utilized for body functions when supplied directly by dietary sources. BorageOil is a more concentrated source of GLA than Evening Primrose Oil (EPO).

One Borage Oil softgel is equivalent to about 5 standard EPO softgels in GLA content.

Great stuff

I have suffered with psoriasis for years and I really find this stuff makes a difference in addition to a omega.

Cleared up my Rosacea Acne but use caution! Borage oil has blood thinning properties!

After years of dealing with Rosacea Acne and trying various prescription meds. and herbal remedies, I discovered borage oil. After 6 weeks of taking one capsule 3 x's daily my rosacea acne has cleared up and after 10 weeks the scarring has vastly improved! However, I began to have nose bleeds and discovered that borage oil has blood thinning properties. I was also taking flax oil 3x daily and a low dose daily aspirin. I discontinued the aspirin and cut but still had two - three nosebleeds per week. Plus, two flax oil per day was not fully controlling the rosacea acne - it was coming back. I then learned that flax oil also has blood thinning properties. So I discontinued the flax oil and the low dose aspirin and resumed taking three flax oil caps. per day. This dosage is working for me and I have not had a bleed for several weeks now.

On the fence..

I can’t really say whether or not this product works. I started taking Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil at the same time and over the course of a couple of weeks the skin on my face started having a reaction. (A few zits, some red patches, some tiny bumps on my cheeks and forehead.) I’m not sure if I was having an allergic reaction or if these products cause some sort of system detox. I’m going to see my naturopath to find out and if it turns out that I’m not allergic I will try taking it for a longer period of time and update this review.
